Using the UKCA Marking From 1st January, 2021
2021-01-08
From 1st January, 2021, Britain officially completes Brexit. At the same time, for products exported to the Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland), the UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is gradually replacing the CE marking.
The UKCA marking came into effect on 1st January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, products still be able to use the CE marking until 1st January 2022 in most cases. At the same time, the British government encourages manufacturers to use the UKCA marking as soon as possible before 1st January 2022.
However, if the product meets the following four conditions at the same time, it needs to use the new UKCA marking immediately after 1st January, 2021:
1.Product is for the market in Great Britain;
2.Product is covered by legislation which requires the UKCA marking;
3. Product requires mandatory third-party conformity assessment;
4.The NB TEC of the product was issued by the UK Conformity Assessment Body/Notified Body (UK NB), but UK NB did not transfer the audited conformity assessment documents to the EU Notified Body (EU NB) before 1st January, 2021.
In most cases, the UKCA marking must be affixed to the product itself or to the packaging. In some cases, it may be placed on the manuals or on other supporting literature.
