2022-06-27
On May 31, 2022, the Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO) in Singapore issued Circular CPSO-310522-05. This circular is to update on the changes to the required safety standards for medium risk Controlled Goods, regulated under the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR).
Under the CPSR, 33 categories of household electrical, electronics and gas appliances and accessories are classified as Controlled Goods. Controlled Goods are required to be tested and certified to specified safety standards, registered with the Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO), and affixed with the Safety Mark before they can be supplied in Singapore. The new requirements will have the following effective dates:
• From June 1, 2024 – for new registrations of Controlled Goods
• From June 1, 2025 – for renewal of registration
Beginning from these effective dates, type test reports from older editions will not be accepted as supporting documentation for new registration or renewal.
