ACMA Opens The Public Consultation On Incorporating QR Codes Into The Telecommunications Labelling Arrangements

On June 17, 2022, The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) opens a Public Consultation on amending the ‘Telecommunications (Labelling Notice for Customer Equipment and Customer Cabling) Instrument 2015‘ to enable the use of a QR code, or similar thing, as a form of label.
Though this Public Consultation, ACMA also come up with a repeal plan of telecommunications technical standards that relate to outdated technology or withdrawn industry standards.
The following standards are in the repeal plan:
1. Telecommunications Technical Standard (Requirements for ISDN Basic Access Interface – AS/ACIF S031) 2015 (F2015L00180 AS/ACIF S031 2015);
2. Telecommunications Technical Standard (Requirements for ISDN Primary Rate Access Interface – AS/ACIF S038) 2015 (F2015L00185 AS/ACIF S038 2015);
3. Telecommunications Technical Standard (Surge Protective Devices for Telecommunication Applications – AS/NZS 4117) 2015 (F2015L00189 AS/NZS 4117 2015).
All parties concerned can submit comments and suggestions before Aug 19, 2022.
