Technical Regulation on Energy Efficiency Specifications for Motor-Compressed Refrigerators, and Freezers Comes into Force in Costa Rica

On August 30, 2017, Costa Rican Government published Decree № 40510, which approved Technical Regulation RTCR 482:2015 . The regulation came into force on March 1, 2019.

This Technical Regulation (RTCR) establishes the maximum electricity consumption levels and sets energy efficiency requirements for household refrigerators up to 1104 L and freezers of up to 850 L using hermetic motor-driven compressors.

In addition,the equipment must meet the efficiency requirements of the standard INTE-28-01-04 and conform with the marking and labeling requirements of the standard INTE-28-01-05.
