Colombia Amended Energy Labeling Technology Regulation
Colombian Government through The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MINMINAS) establishes, adopts, and publishes plans, regulations, norms, and guidelines for the energy sector of Colombia.
On September 28 , 2018, the MINMINAS issued the Resolution № 40993 which modified the requirement for the labelling, implemented adjustments in the Energy Efficiency Label, and clarified some requirements related to air conditioning units and gas cooking appliances. It provides updates to the list of testing standards and identifies requirements for testing methods.
Key points:
1. Starting from January1, 2019, the Resolution reinstates the mandatory labelling requirements for ballasts for electromagnetic and electric lights;
2. Starting from January1, 2019, the Resolution establishes labelling requirements for gas cooking appliances;
3. The suspension of the requirement for labelling is extended to April 1, 2019 (instead of October 1, 2018) for the following equipment :
(1) Multi split air-conditioners;
(2) 3-phase motors and monophase types, also known as the “Lapicero” type;
(3) Air conditioning units with cooling capacity exceeding 10.540 W.
