India Telecom Engineering Center Releases New Draft
The Telecommunications Engineering Center (TEC) of India recently released a draft regulation on “Telecommunication Equipment Mandatory Testing and Certification Procedures”, which is expected to take effect on October 1, 2018. The Indian government stipulates that all telecommunications equipment sold in India or connected to the Indian communication network after October 1, 2018 must obtain the MT&CTE certificate from TEC and print the TEC certification mark on the product. Mandatory products cover all types of mobile phones.
The main contents of the "Telecommunication Equipment Mandatory Testing and Certification Procedure" are as follows:
(1) The Act requires telecommunications products to be tested and certified in accordance with the Essential Requirements (ER's) requirements of the Indian Telecommunications Engineering Center (TEC). At present, wireless devices, such as TVs, car audio systems, notebook computers and other products are not covered by the Indian Telecom Engineering Center and may not be affected by this regulation.
(2) Telecommunications products such as mobile phones will be tested locally in accordance with regulatory requirements at the Conformity Assessment and Verification Authority (CAB) designated by the Telecommunications Engineering Center of India. Products that have been tested in the BIS range and have been tested according to applicable safety standards do not require further safety testing.
The current TEC requirements for all mandatory products are as follows:
1. EMI/EMC: electromagnetic interference, electromagnetic compatibility;
2. Safety;
3. Technical requirements;
4. Security requirements;
5. Other requirements.
