The Thailand Government Revises the 1800MHz Auction Terms

The Thailand government is reportedly planning to set restrictions on the upcoming 1800MHz spectrum auction to prevent the highest bidder from deliberately creating technical barriers to current 1800MHz - band operators.

According to the new provisions, successful bidder shall not select spectrum resources that will cause technical problems to operators using adjacent bands. As the second attempt after the failure of the June auction, the departments concerned decided to provide the above protection only to the operators who participated in the auction to improve the participation of the event.

The Ministry of telecommunications plans to auction a total of 9 groups of 10MHz 1800MHz spectrum resources, the upper limit of each operator is 4 groups, and the winners choose the frequency according to the order of the bid price.
