January Regulatory Updates From India's TEC And BIS
In recent updates from India BIS and TEC:
Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) - Parallel Testing Scheme:
The BIS has officially converted the "Parallel Testing" pilot project into a permanent scheme. This development allows manufacturers to submit test requests for all product categories falling under the "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements of Compulsory Registration Order), 2021." Most IT products fall under the ambit of this order. For a detailed product list or assessment, interested parties are advised to contact the MRT team. It's noteworthy that the guidelines and rules for this scheme remain unchanged, as detailed in the MRT-IA news released on June 16, 2023.
India TEC - Exemption from Test Reports Submission:
The India Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) has announced a substantial exemption from the mandatory submission of test reports for specific test parameters/interfaces linked to various Essential Requirements (ERs) under MTCTE. This exemption has been extended until June 30, 2024, or until further notice. Notably, 5G NR test parameters for Router products are among the exempted criteria. For a comprehensive list of exempted ERs, interested parties are encouraged to get in touch with the MRT team for further details.
