Malaysia MCMC Implement New Technical Specifications For Cellular Booster Equipment

On March 14, 2022, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) published Announcement No. SQASI/CMCS/1/22/0002, which mainly concerns the following two new technical specifications for Cellular Booster Equipment(CBE):
1. MCMC MTSFB TC T019:2021: IMT-2020 (FIFTH GENERATION) - CELLULAR BOOSTER EQUIPMENT
2. MCMC MTSFB TC T018:2021: GLOBAL SYSTEM FOR MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS AND LONG-TERM EVOLUTION - CELLULAR BOOSTER EQUIPMENT
Pursuant to new announcement, all GSM, LTE and 5G CBE that are to be imported, distributed, and/or used in Malaysia shall be certified in accordance with these Technical Specifications. Thus, all new applications which fulfill the Technical Code and Certification Requirements now will be granted full approval and are allowed for a maximum validity period of five years.
Meanwhile, renewal application for existing approval of GSM, LTE and 5G CBE are no longer allowed. A new application is required, and it shall meet the requirements of new technical specification for Cellular Booster Equipment.
