UAE Update to Label Requirements

On 17th June, 2020 the UAE regulator - Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) - advised of a new label requirement applicable to TRA Approved products: the TRA Declaration of Conformity Card (Type Approval Regime Conformity Mark).

The TRA Conformity Mark was initially introduced in TRA’ s 2019 Type Approval Regime Version 2.0. At the time, TRA confirmed that this Conformity Mark needed to be placed under the display platform in retail stores only. The actual product label requirements remained unchanged at the time.

With immediate effect, TRA have now confirmed that the Conformity Mark will replace the former label requirement. As such, the Conformity Mark must now also be placed on the equipment box of Approved products as well as featuring under the display platform in retail stores (or any form of display, e.g. on websites). E-label is allowed, but this does not negate the need to place the mark on the equipment box.

As a reminder, please find below detailed requirements of the Conformity Mark:

- Products shall contain a product statement card as specified above.

- The tag can be marked using black and white colors.

- The QR code shall contain the basic information shown in the middle box.

* TA RTTE refers to the Type Approval certificate number. Type refers to the equipment type such as mobile phone/ tablet etc.

These changes impact all devices that will be imported to UAE. For anything already on the market, no action is required.
