New Caledonia Approves Energy Efficiency Requirements and Restricts Import of Certain Goods
On December 26, 2018, the Congress of New Caledonia adopted Law № 2018-25 establishing Energy Efficiency requirements and banning the import of equipment containing ozone-depleting substances and incandescent or halogen bulbs.
On February 26, 2019, the Government of New Caledonia also adopted Order №2019-447/GNC that implements foregoing Law No. 2018-25 and established specific requirements for certain goods.
The above-mentioned Law and Order entered into force on March 1, 2019.
The Regulation applies to electrical and electronic equipment, such as:
— wine coolers, refrigerators, combination refrigerator-freezer equipment with a storage volume between 10 and 1,500 liters
— washing machines
— clothes dryers
— dishwashers
— air conditioning equipment with a rated capacity of less than or equal to 12kw
— Televisions
