Mexico Published Radio Spectrum Utilization Program for 2019

On March 5, 2019, The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) of Mexico published the Annual Program of use and exploitation of the frequency bands called “The Program 2019”.

The purpose of the Annual Program is to determine the frequency bands of a specific spectrum that will be subject to bidding or may be directly assigned . Frequency bands are classified according to their modality of use and geographic coverage where it will be available.

The following Modality of Use is available for frequency bands:

Commercial — frequency bands of the radio spectrum used by entities for their profit

Public use — frequency bands of the radio spectrum used by governing bodies, municipalities, and public institutions for fulfilment of their purposes

Private use — frequency bands of the radio spectrum used for private communication, experiments, verification or testing

Social use — frequency bands of the radio spectrum used by the community for cultural, scientific, educational, or non-profit purposes

The “Program 2019” evaluates applications for the inclusion of frequency bands and geographic coverage received from August 1, 2018, to January 10, 2019.
