CTIA Urges FCC to Reform 3.5GHz

The day before, the U.S. Wireless Communications and Internet Association (CTIA) urged the FCC to adopt a series of reform measures, with investment and innovation in 3.5GHz band.

FCC proposed in 2015 the 3.5GHz band three layer sharing system model of citizens broadband radio service (CBRS), in order to maximize the spectrum utility. In documents submitted to the FCC, CTIA proposes extending the spectrum's approval time, strengthening private ownership of 3.5GHz equipment users and simplifying the licence period based on the economic division area (PEAs).

"These reforms are critical," says CTIA. As long as the correct implementation of spectrum and wireless infrastructure policy, 5G is expected to be worth $500 billion to the U.S. economy "booster", and create 3 million jobs, intelligent city, bring 160 billion benefits for rural communities. All countries in the world are stepping up the deployment of 5G, as the only medium frequency spectrum in the preparation of the U.S. resources, 3.5GHz licensing system should be conducive to investment, to ensure that China is in the global 5G leader".
