Sri Lanka TRCSL Issues 2024-2029 Spectrum Roadmap
On May 2024, the spectrum management division of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) issued “Spectrum Road Map Sri Lanka (2024-2029)”. The details are as follows:
1.Mobile Broadband Services: TRCSL is considering the refarming of spectrum band 3300 – 3400 MHz for 5G services;
2.Broadcasting Services: TRCSL will explore the possibility of deploying DAB+ system within the territory of Sri Lanka;
3.Fixed Services: TRCSL will review the feasibility of allowing 2300 MHz and 2600 MHz to be used for both FWA and mobile services;
4.The 6GHz Band – Demand from Mobile & RLAN: TRCSL has allocated 5925-6425 MHz for Wi-Fi 6E, and the 6425-7025 MHz band is currently under consideration for IMT through the WRC-23 process.
At present, TRCSL has not released documents about Wi-Fi 6E technical requirements on the official website, MRT will continue closely following up on developments as regard.
