India’s TEC Announces Exemptions for MTCTE Testing

In late June of 2025, India’s Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) announced several updates to the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) policy.

 

1.     Routers and switches operate on single or three-phase power with a current requirement 32A, or on 48 V DC with a current requirement >100A, applicants may submit test reports from ILAC-accredited labs (from non-border countries) or self-declaration letter for further approval.  

 

2.     Smart Meters' EMI/EMC & Safety test reports issued before June 12, 2025, under IS 16444 from BIS-recognized labs may be accepted along with an OEM declaration letter.

 

3.     ILAC test reports from non-border countries will continue to be accepted for the following product categories’ certain test parameters until December 31, 2025 or until further notice: PON/Broadband Equipment; Base Station for Cellular Network; SIM; VHF UHF Radio Equipment System; E-band Fixed Radio Relay Systems; Mobile Radio Trunking System; Repeater for Cellular Network; Precision Timing Protocol Grand Master Equipment; PTP PMP Microwave Fixed Radio Systems; ADSLx; VDSLx; Optical Fibre (Single Mode); Optical Fibre Cable; HF Radio System; GSO VSAT / GSO User Terminal; NGSO Terminal / NGSO Integrated Gateway; SHDSL Interface Equipment; NB-IoT Device Equipment etc.
