India Notifies Security Certification Process for Highly Specialized Equipment

On 30 July 2025, NCCS (National Centre for Communication Security) of India issued a notification regarding the security certification process for Highly Specialized Equipment (HSE), stating that such equipment must adhere to TEC’s guidelines. HSE refers to Telecom/related ICT equipment with specialized power, cooling, storage, or handling requirements as prescribed by TEC.

The notification introduces the procedure for obtaining provisional approval for HSE, allowing applicants with a provisional ER (Essential Requirement) certificate to apply for a security certificate on the MTCTE portal.
