MSIT Updates 6 GHz Wi-Fi Technical Standards
On February 10, 2026, the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) of Korea issued an amendment to the technical standards for wireless equipment (Notice No. 2026-10), specifically refining the regulations for 6 GHz Wireless Access Systems (Wi-Fi).
The update introduces critical changes for environments in buildings and public transit:
Refined Power Limits:
· Buildings: The 5925-6425 MHz band maintains a power density of 5 dBm/MHz, while the 6425-7125 MHz band is set at 2 dBm/MHz. Devices must be connected to building power and are prohibited on moving vehicles like cars, aircraft, or drones.
· Subways: The 5925-6425 MHz band is permitted for use inside subway cars at a power density of 5 dBm/MHz, provided the equipment is connected to the car's power supply.
