KATS Proposes Safety Rule Changes for Tablets and Batteries

On May 11, 2026, the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) proposed updates to the safety guidelines under Notice No. 2026-143 for tablet PCs and batteries.

Key revisions include:

·         Tablet PCs: Refining the screen diagonal length criteria used for product classification.

·         Batteries: Updating the self-inspection test items for single cells, which currently cover safety checks such as short circuits, drops, and overcharging.

The public may submit comments on these proposed amendments until July 10, 2026.
