China MIIT Issues "Interim Measures For The Radio Management Of Civilian Unmanned Aircrafts"
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China issued "Interim Measures for the Radio Management of Civilian Unmanned Aircraft" (MIIT [2023] No. 252) on December 27, 2023. The key provisions are outlined below:
The radio station of the civil unmanned aircraft communication system, which facilitates remote control, telemetry, and information transmission through direct communication methods, should utilize all or part of the following frequencies: 1430-1444 MHz, 2400-2476 MHz, 5725-5829 MHz. Among these, 1430-1444 MHz only could be designated for the telemetry and information transmission downlink of civil unmanned aircraft. 1430-1438 MHz is exclusively allocated for police unmanned aircraft communication systems or police helicopters, while the range 1438-1444 MHz is reserved for other units and individuals using civil unmanned aircraft communication systems.
Micro civil unmanned aircraft communication systems, responsible for remote control, telemetry, and information transmission functions, may only operate within the frequency bands of 2400-2476 MHz and 5725-5829 MHz.
Civilian unmanned aircraft utilizing radar for detection, obstacle avoidance, and other functions should employ micro-power short-range radar equipment within the 24-24.25 GHz frequency band.
These regulations will take effect on January 1, 2024, concurrently the "Notice of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Frequency Use for Unmanned Aircraft Systems" (MIIT [2015] No. 75) will be abolished at the same time.
