India TEC Issues Clarification For Radio Broadcast Receiver And Tracking Device

On May 12, 2022, Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) of India issued clarification regarding coverage of Radio Broadcast Receivers (RBR) and Tracking Devices used in Automotive industry. Details are as follows:
1.With reference to above cited subject, it is clarified that products used in automotive industry namely Radio Broadcast Receiver (RBR) and Tracking Device which are integral part of Completely Build Units (CBUs) i.e. complete vehicles whether comes fitted with imported vehicles or imported/sourced locally for fitment in locally manufactured vehicles, shall not be covered under Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunication Equipment (MTCTE).
2. Further, genuine service parts sourced locally or imported as replacement for fitment in CBUs are also not covered under MTCTE.
3. However, the Radio Broadcast Receiver and Tracking Device if sold as a separate and standalone unit (i.e. neither as an integral part of vehicle nor as a genuine service part for replacements in CBUs) will be covered under MTCTE.
