Australia ACMA Opens Public Consultation on RLAN Use in the 5GHz and 6GHz Bands

On 7th April 2021, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has opened Public Consultation Number IFC 12/2021 regarding RLAN use in the 5GHz and 6GHz bands. The main contents are as follows:
(1)ACMA is considering updating RLAN use in the 5GHz band.
(2)ACMA has formed the preliminary view on 6 GHz as follows:
1.The bottom 500 MHz (5925 - 6425 MHz) be made available for use in Australia under the LIPD class license;
2.These devices be allowed to operate at 2 different power limits:
a.24 dBm (11 dBm/MHz), if only used indoors;
b.14 dBm (1 dBm/MHz) in all locations.
The consultation will be opened until 5th May 2021, during which all parties concerned can submit their opinions and comments to ACMA.
