Saudi Arabia Starts Mandatory Registration on SABER Platform
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) announced the beginning of mandatory application for registering products on SABER platform from August 1, 2019 for the following regulations:
Technical Regulation of Electrical Self-Balancing Boards (Scooter)
Technical Regulations for Truck Barriers
Technical Regulation for Degradable Plastic Products
Technical regulations for batteries and electric cells
Technical regulations for paints and varnishes.
The conformity assessment bodies shall cease to issue the Certificates of Conformity as of August 1, 2019 :
Any shipment orders that are not issued by SABER are to be discontinued as of August 15, 2019 except for those that have a Certificate of Conformity issued before August 1.
SABER is a new online conformity assessment system for imported products used to issue certificates of conformity for products as per Saudi standards and specifications. SABER e-platform is provided under the supervision of the SASO in order to facilitate the process of placing products on the Saudi market (whether imported or produced locally) according to the new Saudi Product Safety Program known as SALEEM.
