What You Need to Know When Importing Electrical Products to the EAEU
Electrical products must meet technical requirements of the EAEU to be placed on the market. The EAEU technical regulations contain mandatory requirements for safety aspects. The requirements of the EAEU technical regulations can be met through creating the presumption of conformity with TRs by application of relevant standards.
Technical Regulations particularly relevant to electrical products are:
EAEU TR 004/2011 on the safety of low-voltage equipment
EAEU TR 020/2011 on the electromagnetic compatibility of technical means
EAEU TR 010/2011 on the safety of machinery and equipment
EAEU TR 037/2016 on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment
Please, be aware that EAEU TR 037/2016 requirements become mandatory from March 1, 2020. However, it doesn’t mean that if you put your product to the EAEU market prior to this date, you don’t need to show the compliance to this regulation after March 1, 2020. On the contrary, it doesn’t matter when you put the product to the EAEU market starting from March 1, 2020 you should have EAEU DoC against RoHS requirements anyway. In case of violation, the penalty is implemented.
Note that the applicant for the conformity assessment procedure against EAEU TRs can only be a legal entity or a person that is registered in EAEU member countries.
