Thailand Will Auction 2.6GHz Spectrum Next Year

NBTC, Thailand's telecommunications regulator, recently announced plans to auction 2600 MHz spectrum in the second half of 2019 in order to achieve 5G deployment by 2020.

It is reported that the relevant departments assigned the sub-committee to take full responsibility for the recall of unused spectrum. The first task is to recall some spectrum within 2600 MHz and prepare to redistribute it to 5G service. The 2600MHz spectrum is currently held by the state-owned broadcasting company MCOT, whose use agreement will expire at the end of 222. The second step is to negotiate compensation for spectrum return.

In addition, NBTC plans to recall 470MHz, 1500MHz, 3400-3800MHz and 26-28GHz bands, which are currently used by state-owned operators TOT, satellite operators Thaicom and Chevron Thailand.
