Australian Spectrum Auction Closed

In the recent 3.6 GHz auction held by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), all four operators have access to 5G spectrum resources.

According to reports, the total revenue of the spectrum auction was about 853 million US dollars, and 350 sets of spectrum were sold out. Dense Air spent $18.492 million on 29 spectrum resources, Mobile JV Pty spent $263.3 million on 131 spectrum sets, Optus spent $185 million on 47 spectrum sets and Telstra spent $386 million on 143 spectrum sets. "As the internationally recognized key band of 5G business, timely issuance of the corresponding spectrum resources will help Australia to deploy 5G business as soon as possible," said Nerida O'Loughlin, chairman of ACMA.

According to the regulations, the spectrum licence involved in the auction will be opened in March 2020 and will be valid until December 13, 2030. Operators can obtain the right of early use according to specific circumstances, provided that the existing license holders are not disturbed.
