The Release of the 2025 Editions of AS/CA S042 standard in Australia

On June 30, 2025, the Australian standards - AS/CA S042.1, S042.4 and S042.5 - were officially released with the 2025 edition.

The major changes are as follow:

1.     The inclusion of Emergency Cell Broadcast requirements for the National Messaging System (NMS).

2.     Removal of 3G (UMTS) requirements.

3.     The inclusion of requirements for LTE B26 and 5GNR n26.

New Standards have a 12-month transition period during which equipment may be tested or assessed either the 2022 or 2025 editions of the standards. From June 30, 2026, all the equipment imported into Australia for the first time must comply with the requirements of S042: 2025.
