MIIT of China Issues Latest Announcement on the RoHS Standards for Electrical and Electronic Products

Following the release of GB 26572-2025 ‘’Requirements on the Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products’’ in August this year, and in order to ensure the orderly implementation of conformity assessment for the restriction of hazardous substances, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China issued an announcement on November 18, 2025, further clarifying the relevant requirements.

I. From now until December 31, 2025, enterprises shall carry out conformity assessment activities in accordance with GB/T 26572-2011, GB/T 26572-2011 with Amendment No. 1, or GB 26572-2025.
From January 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027, conformity assessment shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 26572-2011 with Amendment No. 1 or GB 26572-2025.
Starting August 1, 2027, conformity assessment shall be carried out in accordance with GB 26572-2025.

II. Starting January 1, 2026, products that have completed conformity assessment based on GB/T 26572-2011 and will continue to be manufactured or imported must complete the transition of conformity assessment to GB/T 26572-2011 with Amendment No. 1 or GB 26572-2025 by January 1, 2027.
Starting August 1, 2027, products that have completed conformity assessment based on GB/T 26572-2011 with Amendment No. 1 and will continue to be manufactured or imported may complete the transition to GB 26572-2025 through natural transition pathways such as certificate renewal or product modification.

III. The testing methods for conformity assessment activities related to the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, conducted in accordance with GB/T 26572-2011 with Amendment No. 1 or GB 26572-2025, shall be implemented in accordance with the corresponding parts of the GB/T 39560 series of standards.
