NCCS of India Updates Telecom Security Standards (ITSAR 2.0)

On December 1, 2025, the National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) of India released the updated Indian Telecom Security Assurance Requirements (ITSAR), version 2.0, for Wi-Fi CPEs and IP Routers.

The new version provides a clearer scope:

1.     Wi-Fi CPEs: Now explicitly covers all types of Wi-Fi Routers, Modems, Access Points, and Controllers. Any Wi-Fi product with routing, NATing, or packet filtering is now categorized as a CPE.

2.     IP Routers: The standards apply to all types, including SDN, Cloud-Native (CNF), and Virtual (VNF) routers, across all deployment modes. IPv4 requirements are extended to IPv6.

Please note that the exemption for Wi-Fi CPEs and IP routers from security certification will end on March 31, 2026.
