RSM Seeks Feedback on Future of WWAN 4G/5G Spectrum

Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) of New Zealand has opened a consultation seeking feedback on the future management rights for the 2300 MHz (expiring 2030) and 2600 MHz (expiring 2028) frequency bands. These bands are currently critical for providing 4G and 5G mobile services and regional broadband connectivity across the country.

RSM is specifically requesting input on key regulatory decisions, including:

·         Allocation approaches in the future.

·         Future policy for non-national (local/regional) access to the 2600 MHz band.

The consultation period will end on January 23, 2026.
