RRA Publishes Guidelines for Mandatory USB Type-C Conformity Assessment

Following MRT IA news dated on 10 November, 2025, on December 1, 2025, the Radio Research Agency (RRA) of Korea published the guidelines regarding the application of conformity assessment for USB Type-C receptacle connectors to outline the mandatory application of conformity assessment for USB Type-C connectors.  

Key points as below:

1.     Mandated Equipment: The requirement applies to 13 defined types of wireless equipment.

2.     Assessment of Connector: Effective on the standard's implementation date of November 6, 2026, the USB Type-C receptacle connector will be included as equipment subject to the Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (자기적합확인).

3.     Applicable Date: Only applicable wireless equipment (the 13 types) that receive a new conformity assessment after November 6, 2026, are subject to these rules. Equipment assessed prior to the enforcement date is exempt.

4.     Guideline for Conformity Assessment Application: Applicable wireless equipment can only be submitted for Conformity Certification (적합인증) or Conformity Registration (적합등록) if the installed USB Type-C connector either completed the Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (자기적합확인).
