Singapore IMDA Releases IMDA TS CMT Issue 1 Rev 4

On 6 March 2026, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore issued an updated Technical Specification for Cellular Mobile Terminals: “IMDA TS CMT Issue 1 Rev 4.”

This new revision replaces “IMDA TS CMT Issue 1 Rev 3.” The main changes are as follows:

·         Addition of reference standard IEC 60086-4 for lithium batteries — Effective from the date of release

·         Addition of requirements for CMT to disable 2G connectivity by default — Effective 31 December 2026

·         Addition of requirements for CMT to support emergency cell broadcast — Effective 1 April 2026

IMDA has not yet announced how previously certified products will be handled under this revision. MRT will continue to follow up on this matter.
