Algeria Updates Type Approval Procedures
On February 22, 2026, the L'Autorité de Régulation de la Poste et des Communications Electroniques (ARPCE) in Algeria published Executive Decree No. 26-97 on its official website, establishing new procedures for the type approval of telecommunications equipment. The regulation aims to simplify the certification application process and improve processing efficiency.
The key updates are as follows:
1.The validity period of type approval certificates has been extended from three (3) years to five (5) years.
2.Applications must be submitted through a dedicated electronic platform.
3.All approved telecommunications equipment must be labeled in accordance with the format specified in the regulation before being placed on the Algerian market.
The regulation came into force on February 22, 2026. All applications submitted on or after this date must comply with the new procedures.
In addition, according to information obtained by the MRT team from local partners in Algeria, several practical changes have been introduced in the implementation process:
1.The authority no longer mandates the submission of a Certificate of Origin (CoO) issued by a Chamber of Commerce, and the Declaration of Origin issued by the manufacturer is now accepted as a substitute.
2.Original copies of signed and stamped documents are no longer required; scanned copies are acceptable.
3.Official type approval fees have been increased.
