Mauritius ICTA Announces Phase-Out of 3G Networks

On May 28, 2026, the Information & Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) of Mauritius issued a Press Communique announcing the decision to phase out 3G mobile services nationwide.

Local Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) have already begun the gradual decommissioning of their 3G networks. MNOs have confirmed that 3G mobile services will be fully discontinued by the end of 2028. The ICTA urges the public to discontinue the importation and use of devices that support only 3G connectivity. Consumers are strongly encouraged to adopt devices compatible with newer technologies such as 4G LTE and 5G to ensure continued service availability and network compatibility.
