Vietnam Updates Frequency Plans for Digital TV and Mobile Services

On May 31, 2026, Vietnam’s Minister of Science and Technology issued two new regulations to modernize the country’s radio frequency spectrum.

1.     Circular 27/2026/TT-BKHCN: This circular reorganizes the 470-694 MHz band for terrestrial digital television. All organizations must complete the frequency transition by December 31, 2028. If the 606-694 MHz range is officially reallocated for mobile services, television broadcasters must move to compliant bands within 6 months of receiving notice.

2.     Circular 29/2026/TT-BKHCN: This circular prioritizes the 880-915 MHz and 925-960 MHz bands for advanced mobile systems (4G/5G NR) starting September 16, 2026. Under this regulation, 3G (IMT-2000) services operating in these bands must be phased out by September 14, 2028.
