Singapore IMDA Updates Mandatory Cybersecurity Requirements for Residential Gateways

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore has formalized the mandatory enforcement framework under IMDA TS RG-SEC (Technical Specification for Security Requirements for Residential Gateways).

Moving forward, all network hardware categorized as Residential Gateways (including home Wi-Fi routers, fiber modems, and broadband hubs) distributed or sold in Singapore must adhere to these enhanced security protocols. This specification serves to minimize critical IoT network vulnerabilities and must be read in tandem with the CSA Cybersecurity Labelling Scheme (CLS) Publication No. 4A for Home Gateways.

This regulation is tentatively scheduled to be fully enforced by 31 December 2027.
