New Progress in China's 6G Technology Development

In May 2026, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced that it had granted the IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group a license to use the 6 GHz band for 6G technology trials. The authorization supports 6G trials in selected regions, focusing on the typical 6G use cases and key performance indicators (KPIs) defined by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), to facilitate technology research, development, and testing.

The approval of the 6 GHz spectrum for 6G technology trials is intended to further promote the high-quality development of 6G in China.
