Vietnam MIC Issues Two Public Consultations

In early February 2024, the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) of Vietnam issued two draft circulars to consult the public. The details are as follows:
1. “Draft Circular Planning the 880-915 MHz and 925-960 MHz Frequency Bands for Vietnam's IMT Public Terrestrial Mobile Communication System” issued on February 3
In the draft, from September 16, 2024 to September 15, 2026, the MIC plans to use 880-915 MHz (uplink) and 925-960 MHz (downlink) frequency bands for the deployment of public terrestrial mobile communication systems using the Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) transmission method in accordance with the IMT-2000 standard and subsequent versions. The existing GSM standard mobile communication system operates on the 880-915 MHz and 925-960 MHz bands which are only used to maintain voice and text message services for mobile communication terminal users operates according to IMT-2000, IMT-Advanced standards.
Meanwhile, starting from September 16, 2026, the MIC plan to use 890-915 MHz (uplink) and 935-960 MHz (downlink) frequency bands for the deployment of public terrestrial mobile communication systems using FDD transmission method in accordance with the IMT-Advanced, IMT-2020 standards and subsequent versions.
All parties concerned can submit comments and suggestions to MIC before April 3, 2024.
2. “Draft Circular Promulgating National Technical Regulations on Electromagnetic Compatibility for Land Mobile Radio Equipment and Land Radio Trunks” issued on February 5
The “National Technical Regulation on Electromagnetic Compatibility for Private Land Mobile Radio and Terrestrial Trunked Radio (QCVN 100:2024/BTTTT)” is published together with the above draft.
MIC plans to enforce the standard QCVN 100:2024/BTTTT from July 1, 2025 and replace the technical regulation (QCVN 100:2015/BTTTT) promulgated in Circular No. 39/2015/TT-BTTTT.
All parties concerned can submit comments and suggestions to MIC before April 5, 2024.
