New Energy Star Program Requirements for Televisions Come into Force in USA
On February 23, 2018, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the final “Version 8.0 ENERGY STAR Televisions specification”. The specification will be effective since March 1, 2019.
Any television manufactured starting from March 1, 2019, must meet Version 8.0 requirements to bear the ENERGY STAR mark. All certifications of products to the Version 7.0 specification will be invalid for the purposes of ENERGY STAR qualification. Certification Bodies (CB) will only submit product models certified to Version 8.0 to EPA.
All new products must be certified by a Certification Body recognized by EPA before being labeled and marketed as ENERGY STAR. If the product meets all certification requirements, a CB will notify that it is ENERGY STAR certified and will submit certified product data to EPA for listing on the ENERGY STAR website. As a part of this certification process, products must be tested in a laboratory recognized by EPA .
