India Updates Mandatory Certification Procedure for Telecom Equipment
The Ministry of Communications earlier adopted the procedure of Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) in India.
According to the TEC/10/2018-TC, the following telecom equipment should be subject to MTCTE after January 2019:
Telephone instruments
Modems
Audio conferencing equipment
Fax machines
ISDN CPEs
Radio and transmission products including microwaves
UHF and VHF equipment
Satellite equipment
Wi-Fi access points and controllers
DWDM equipment
Digital cross connects
Multiplexing equipment
SDH equipment
Cordless phones
The TEC/10/2018-TC also sets up the following telecom equipment as subject to MTCTE after April 2019:
GPON equipment
DSL equipment
IP terminals
PABX
Media gateways
Signaling gateways
Soft switches
Mobile devices
Repeaters
Compact cellular networks
Routers
LAN switches
Any other telecom equipment not indicated above
The date of mandatory testing is extended and is under consideration of the Government of India.
