Panama Approves Requirements for Electric Motors

Starting from February 28, 2019, Panama bans import and commercialization of motors that don’t comply with requirements of DGNTI-COPANIT 91:2017.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Panama published the Resolution № 32 in the Official Gazette of February 20, 2018. The document approves the Technical Regulation DGNTI-COPANIT 91:2017 on energy efficiency and labeling requirements of AC three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors.

This Regulation establishes the minimum energy efficiency levels together with the labeling requirements for products which are going to be manufactured, imported, distributed, and marketed within the national territory of Panama.In addition,This Regulation establishes the conformity assessment procedure. A certificate of conformity can be issued by the General Directorate of Standards and Industrial Technology (DGNTI) or any certification bodies accredited with the National Accreditation Council (CNA).
