Oman TRA Issues New Type Approval Regulation

On July 17, 2024, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of Oman released a new Type Approval Regulation for Telecommunications Equipment.

The key information is as follows:

1. According to the new regulations, type approval certificates are now valid for four (4) years. Also, certificates issued before the new regulations came into effect will only be valid for four years from the date of original issuance.

2. To renew the validity of a type approval certificate, an application must be submitted to TRA and a fee must be paid before the expiration of the validity period, otherwise the original certificate will be considered cancelled.

3. TRA has updated the certification label, adding a QR code and allowing the use of electronic label.

The new regulations will take effect 30 days after the date of publication, which means it will be effective from August 17, 2024.
