Malaysia MTSFB Opened Public Consultation on Three Draft Technical Codes

On October 10, 2025, the MTSFB invited the public to submit feedback and comments on the following three draft Technical Codes (TCs).

1.    Satellite Earth Station Terminal - Specifications

This Technical Code applies to fixed and portable Satellite Earth Station Terminals (SESTs) operating within frequency bands allocated for satellite services in Malaysia. It covers, but is not limited to, hub stations, gateway stations, Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT) and other user terminals.

2.    Free Space Optics - Specifications

This Technical Code defines the minimum technical requirements for Free Space Optics (FSO) equipment intended for deployment in Malaysia. It applies to all terrestrial FSO communication systems that use line-of-sight optical technology to provide a point-to-point communication link, operating at wavelengths of 850 nm (352.9412 THz), or 1550 nm (193.5484 THz) in accordance with MCMC Class Assignment.

3.    Amateur Radio Equipment – Specifications

This Technical Code specifies the minimum technical requirements for amateur radio equipment intended for operation within the frequency bands allocated to the Amateur Service and Amateur-Satellite Service.

All interested parties are invited to submit their comments and suggestions to MTSFB by November 9, 2025.
