India Simplifies Security Certification for ONT and ONU Devices

On December 29, 2025, and January 1, 2026, the National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS) of India released notifications to simplify the certification process for ONT and ONU broadband equipment. Under the updated rules, security testing is mandatory only for models or variants featuring a unique combination of System-on-Chip (SoC) and Software Development Kit (SDK) versions.

All other customized variants using the same SoC-SDK combination are now automatically covered through a Self-Declaration of Conformity (SDoC).
