ACMA Opens Consultation on FRMCS Spectrum Allocation

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has released a consultation paper outlining the proposed implementation of planning outcomes for the 1.9 GHz band. A key element of the proposal is the introduction of Future Rail Mobile Communication Services (FRMCS) in the 1.9 GHz segment. FRMCS is an emerging technology based on the 3GPP standard, designed to support mission-critical rail safety and control communications.

Stakeholders are invited to provide feedback by 27 February 2026.
