Vietnam Introduces New Chemical Safety Regulations

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) of Vietnam recently issued Circular No. 01/2026/TT-BCT, effective January 17, 2026. Manufacturers and importers must disclose regulated hazardous chemicals found in their products.

Key contents include:

1.     Impact on Electronics: The mandate specifically targets electronic equipment containing substances such as lead, cadmium, and chromium compounds.

2.     Requirement: Companies must report chemical content through a specialized function on the National Chemical Database.

The Circular outlines standard Chemical Safety Data Sheets (SDS) as a template. However, as of February 2, 2026, further guidance on compliance has not yet been provided by the authorities.
