China Releases "Safety Technical Specification for Portable Power Banks" (GB 47372-2026)

On April 3, 2026, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the mandatory national standard, "Safety Technical Specification for Portable Power Banks" (GB 47372-2026). The standard will officially come into effect on April 1, 2027.

Building upon the requirements of two existing mandatory national standards—GB 31241-2022 and GB 4943.1-2022, GB 47372-2026 further strengthens the safety level of portable power banks in the following aspects:

1.     Adding product coding requirements

2.     Enhancing the intrinsic safety of batteries

3.     Introducing new intelligent management requirements

4.     Adding new requirements for battery aging and lithium plating

5.     Clarifying dual protection circuit safeguards

6.     Adding requirements for key battery materials

7.     Strengthening production process controls
