India Delicenses 77-81 GHz Automotive Radar Systems

On June 11, 2026, the Ministry of Communications of India published G.S.R. 468(E) to exempt 77-81 GHz automotive radar systems from licensing requirements.

The usage and limitations for these exempted systems are as follows:

1.      Systems are used for radiolocation on land vehicles (cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, and trains), aircraft while taxiing, and boats.

2.      Operation is restricted to a maximum average EIRP of 50 dBm and a maximum peak EIRP of 55 dBm, with a maximum bandwidth of 4 GHz and maximum unwanted emissions of -30 dBm/MHz.
